Overview
DiligenceVault's External Connectors for AI Autofill allow users to pull documents directly from their cloud storage platforms into the AI Autofill workflow. Instead of downloading files from cloud storage to a local machine and re-uploading them into DiligenceVault, users can now connect their accounts and select source documents in a single step.
This feature reduces manual file handling, speeds up the autofill process, and keeps all sourced documents organized within DiligenceVault for easy future reference.
Key Benefits
Direct cloud access: Select documents from your cloud storage without leaving DiligenceVault.
No manual downloads: Eliminate the extra step of downloading files locally before uploading them to DiligenceVault.
Automatic archiving: All externally sourced documents are saved to your DiligenceVault Documents grid automatically.
Secure, user-level connections: Each user connects their own account. No shared access across team members.
Supported Platforms
DiligenceVault supports direct integration with the following cloud storage providers:
Google Drive - Access and attach files directly from your Google Drive.
OneDrive Personal - Access files from your personal OneDrive account.
OneDrive Business - Connect to OneDrive for Business to access your organizational files.
SharePoint Online - Browse and attach documents from your SharePoint sites.
Connecting an External Platform
There are two ways to connect an external cloud storage platform to your DiligenceVault account. You can link your account directly from the AI Autofill modal while working on a project, or set it up ahead of time through your personal settings.
Option A: Connect From the AI Autofill Modal
- This is the most common approach, as it lets you connect and select documents in one continuous step.
Open a diligence project and navigate to the Questionnaire tab.
Launch AI Autofill and select AI Mode.
Under Select Document, click More Sources. A dropdown will display the available connectors.
Click Connect next to the platform you want to use. A browser sign-in pop-up will appear.
If you are already signed into that platform in your browser, the connection will establish automatically without requiring credentials again.
Once connected, the status will change to Disconnect, confirming the link is active.
Option B: Connect From My Settings
You can also set up your connections in advance through your account settings.
My Settings > Integrations
Click on your initials and navigate to My Settings.
Select Integrations from the settings menu.
Click Connect on any of the available platform cards to link your account.
Using External Connectors with AI Autofill
Once a connector is linked, using it within the AI Autofill workflow is straightforward. The diagram below outlines the end-to-end process.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Open your project: Navigate to your diligence project and open the Questionnaire tab.
Launch AI Autofill: Click the AI Autofill button and select AI Mode.
Choose your scope: Use the Apply to dropdown to select which categories or sub-categories you want to autofill.
Select your source: Under Select Document, click More Sources, then choose your connected platform (e.g., Google Drive).
Browse and pick files: A file browser will display your cloud storage contents. Navigate through folders, use the search bar, or switch between tabs like My Drive and Shared with Me.
Select documents: Click on individual files to select them. To select multiple documents at once, hold the Shift key while clicking.
Confirm and run: Click Select to add your chosen documents as sources. Then click Auto-fill as Drafts to start the AI Autofill process.
Review responses: The AI will process your documents and generate draft responses for the applicable questions. Review and finalize the drafts as needed.
Browsing and Selecting Documents
After clicking on a connected platform from the More Sources dropdown, a file browser dialog opens. This dialog provides a familiar browsing experience similar to the cloud platform itself.
Tabs: Switch between My Drive and Shared with Me (Google Drive) or equivalent views on other platforms to locate your files.
Search: Use the search bar at the top of the dialog to quickly find specific files or folders.
Sort: Click column headers (Name, Owner, Last modified) to sort files in ascending or descending order.
Multi-select: Hold the Shift key to select multiple documents simultaneously.
Confirm: Click Select at the bottom of the dialog to add the chosen files as sources, or click Cancel to close without changes.
Managing Your Connections
You have full control over your individual cloud storage connections at any time.
From the AI Autofill Modal
Click More Sources, then select Manage all connections at the bottom of the dropdown. This redirects you to the My Settings > Integrations page.
From My Settings
My Settings > Integrations
View all four connector cards and their current status (connected or disconnected).
Click Disconnect on any active connector to remove the link. Click Connect to re-establish it at any time.
Connections are user-specific. When you connect a platform, only your personal account is linked. Other team members must connect their own accounts separately. Disconnecting your account does not affect other users.
Admin Configuration: Allowed Connectors
Firm administrators can control which external connectors are available to users across the organization. This ensures compliance with corporate data and privacy policies.
Firm Settings > Preferences > Firm Preferences > Autofill Defaults > Allowed Connectors
What Admins Can Do
Enable all connectors: All four platforms are available and users can connect any of them.
Enable specific connectors: Only the selected platforms are available. Restricted platforms appear greyed out for users with a message instructing them to contact their administrator.
Disable all connectors: No external integrations are visible. Users will see an admin permission warning and will not have the option to connect any platform.
