Do you have any specific information you would like to collect about your responders that is not standard in DiligenceVault? You can use the Custom Fields and Tags option to add this information to your DiligenceVault account.
You can also use Tags to organize and classify all your information in DiligenceVault in a way that makes sense for you and your users. Custom tags are specific fields/tags that can be added to an entity (firm, strategy, product, vehicle, contact, or project). For example, you could create a custom field/tag to collect the number of employees at the responder firm, record a link for a report, or include the name of a shared client, jurisdiction, vehicle type, and more.
How to add a Custom Field or Tag:
To create a Custom Field/Tag, follow the steps below. Note that only Admin users have access to Firm Settings to configure tags and custom fields.
- Click Firm Settings
- Click Tags and Custom Fields
- Click either Universal or the specific Entity
On the Universal page, users can start by adding tags to the Universal groupings, which will be available across all entities in DiligenceVault. The available Universal Groupings include Asset Allocation, Conviction Level, Geographic Focus, Investment Thesis, Watch List, Relationship Status, and Action Items. To add a new tag, users can simply click the plus sign.
To edit or delete any tags, users can click the cross icon next to the added tag and remove it.
Once on the entity page, users can add Tags, Custom Fields, or both, depending on the entity type. Simply click the plus sign next to the Tag or Custom Field you wish to add.
Custom Fields can be added for all entity types, including Firms, Strategy, Products, Vehicles, Contacts, Projects, and Service Providers.
Custom Tags can be added for Products and Contacts:
- For Products, there are system classification tags (built into DiligenceVault) and custom classification tags.
- For Contacts, there are contact type tags.
Users can edit or add new custom classification tags as needed.
Users can create, edit, or delete any custom field across all entity types—Firms, Strategy, Products, Vehicles, Contacts, Projects, and Service Providers. To create a custom field, click the "+ Custom Field" button. To edit an existing custom field, click the pencil icon. To delete a custom field, click the bin icon. These actions apply to all custom fields for each entity type.

- Field Name: Specify the name of the custom field.
- Type: Choose the field type (e.g., text, number, date).
