As a manager, you can create up to two (2) teams within your firm. The Team level permissions enable each firm to create teams of users, such as “Legal”, “Compliance”, or “Private Markets,” and administer each team’s accessibility and permissions. Permissions are configured on two levels:
Team membership and role in a team:
- Each team will have resource level permissions (which project, product and/or investor’s firm profile can a team have access to).
- Each team will have resource visibility defaults.
The ability to add users, create teams and set permissions are restricted to users with Admin privileges.
Create teams
- Go to "Firm Settings" > "Users and Teams" > "Teams"
- Click the "+" sign on the right side and create a new team
- While creating the team you can add team members and assign them different roles
- Owner: Owners can create entities and have access to all the resources owned by this team.
- Contributor: Contributors will have read and write access to all the existing resources owned by this team.
- Viewer: Viewers will have read only access to all the resources owned by this team.
- Once you add team members to the team you can assign access permissions to the team. Permissions assigned are at product and project level
Assign Resources
You can also assign two (2) types of resource visibility access:
- ALL: Team members can access all the data for the assigned resource irrespective of ownership. Example: Two teams “Legal” and “Compliance” can have access to the same product ‘Product A’. All team members of Legal and Compliance can see activities performed by each other.
Legal Team can view
Compliance Team can view Notes added by Legal Team Yes Yes Notes added by Compliance Team Yes Yes - TEAM OWNED: Users can access only those records of a resource which are owned by a member of their team. It simulates segregation between two teams that have access to the same resource. Example: Private Markets and Public Markets have access to the same product:
Notes Added by: Private Markets Team Can View Public Markets Team Can View Answers or Documents added by Private Markets Team Yes No Answers or Documents added by Public Markets Team No Yes
Add / Create a user
When you add a user, you can also assign them to be part of the team:
- Go to "Firm settings" > "Users and Teams" > "Users".
- Click the "+" sign on the right side and create a new user.
- Add Team Permissioning by assigning a team and a role (the team must be already created).
- Owner: Owners can create entities and have access to all the resources owned by this team.
- Contributor: Contributors will have read and write access to all the existing resources owned by this team.
- Viewer: Viewers will have read only access to all the resources owned by this team.
Permissioning at a user level
You can also assign permission to users at resource level. To add user level permission:
- Go to “Firm settings” > “Users”.
- Click on the username.
- Once you click on the username you will be taken to the user profile. Under this section you can add this user to various teams or can give them resource level permissions.
Permission a section
You can group resources so it is easier to read / review the permissions through the Permissions tab.
- Navigate to “Firm settings” > “Users and Teams” > “Permissions”.
- Group as needed by clicking on the down arrow and expanding the grouping by clicking on the “+”.
- Click on the "+" sign on the right side to add user or / team level permission (this can be added through the Teams or Users tab as well).
